Why labels mean so little...

I might be talking about women's clothing rather than social labels, but it's diverse enough to serve as a fitting metaphor (allegory?)...

I went bathers and bra shopping today. (People, you are supposed to tell me when my bathers are getting see through. Cheers!).

Ended up with several bras. They all fit. In 3 different cup sizes. For once the back size actually remained the same. Have no idea how I managed that.

Then we could look at the size on the bras and the fact that in one of those brands, the size UP in their swimwear was too small for me in the top.

Or we could look at the work clothes I bought from another shop which seem to say I am at least 3 sizes bigger magically between my bra and my clothes.

it's an absolute farce (and yes I know I've mentioned this before). I'm not convinced we wouldn't all have better luck by picking an item at random from the rack and taking it to the change rooms for all the similarity to the next garment it might have.

And hell, if even my clothes won't fit in one neatly labelled box, how anyone expects what's inside to, I don't know :)

Only if one assumes that all labels are exclusive. I like to think more along the lines of a tagging system. Use as many tags as fit :)

Yeah, every label I've seen is two-dimensional, and every person I've met is three-dimensional. It stands to reason that the former cannot completely encompass the latter.

Stupid labels! I measure myself twice, make up a pattern in a size bigger than normal only to have it fall off when I put it on. Brilliant stuff!

I've thought recently that I really should cajole you into taking me bra/clothes shopping. You always look lovely, and I find it very difficult to find bras and nice clothes that look good on someone larger than a C cup...

During the post Christmas sales I bought two "round the house" shirts from Kmart for $10 each. They're the same size, same cut, same manufacturer, different colours and fit differently. I thought it must have been mis labelled so I went back and checked. Nope. White is smaller for some reason. Go figure.
