I made it to the gym after all.

I really wanted to get to the gym today as I was worried that if I skipped this early after joining, even for a perfectly valid cause, I'd lose too much momentum for going back.

I decided against doing the Body Balance class though as stretching and all, while theoreticlaly exactly what i need, it's too easy to stretch the wrong musckles, the wrong way and some exercises are bad for this injury etc. If I'm better by Thursday and feeling Really motivated, I'll aim for the morning class. Given it's at 7am, I dunno that ym chances are any good, but it's a theory. Will also depend on how hard I'm pushed in ym fitness assessment the night before.

Given walking is one of the more painful movements currently, I gave the treadmills a miss and decided that before heading to the reclining gbikes I should test out the cross trainer while I was still relatively fresh, and see if it hurt or not. To my surprise it did not. I can't remember what I changed it to, but I did up the resistance as recommended, and managed to find a good rhythm, It's still a hell of a workout though :) I only did about 8 minutes on it today, still adjusting. But it's better than the other day so points there.
I did every second minute legs only - my arms are so damn weak! Also, going backwards hurts the front of my thighs!

Then I went to the reclining bike and upped the resitance to 6 (from 1 last time) and did 12 minutes. I think i can probably up the resistance further, but will have to see. I did less sprinting this time round too, but I found a comfortable pace.

After the cardio I went to the pulldown machine again - it's one of the few I know how to use! - and did 4 sets of 10 - alternating sets of front and back - at 15kg. Again it feels like I could put that up to 20kg with no drama, but taking ti slow is sensible.

Then I decided to stop as I was getting sore. Yeah I probably pushed it too hard.

So overall, less actual time on the cardio, but the resistance was higher which has to count for something. And I was injured so can no doubt do more when I'm not so damn sore.

Also accomplished slightly mroe in the arm weights than last time.

Then Iw ent into the sauna, which was once again empty, dumped 2 handfuls of ince onto the coals to bring it up to a comfortably hot temperature, and sat and lay on the top bench for 20 minutes. Did wonders for my back.

Despite showering and all before coming home, I am in fact still feeling the warmth of the sauna!

I did a bit too much think = my back isn't entirely happy with me. That said, it doesn't actually feel any worse, jsut sore, and a different feel to it - less sharp. So hopefully the exercise nad heat loosened some stuff up.

Also, need to remember to have my protein drink earlier to get the full effect. When I was in the sauna I was getting restless as the full effects kicked in.

Overall I feel pretty good right now :) I'm glad I went certainly.

Also, another day for random work people telling me I've lost weight so yay.

Excellent on all counts!

I had a seriously weird day yesterday, where 'seriously weird' = 'closest I've been to functional in several years', and so far today I'm not paying for it. Go us!

Awesome! It's always good when people start noticing :)

Though on the lat pull down machines, I've seen in some gyms I've been in that they ONLY want you to pull down to the front, not the back behind the neck. I'm guessing because it's harsh on the neck or something.
